Take Time

As parents we all know the frustrations of raising children and how we just want to take a timeout from being a mommy or a daddy and take time for ourselves. But with the recent tragedy in Newton we all should take a moment and look at things from a different angle. I know that my children can be difficult some days but at least I am able to squeeze my babies at the end of the day and I count myself lucky to be able to do so. I cannot imagine not being able to hug and squeeze the orneriness out of my children when they get to whining or misbehaving. I've learned that you should appreciate the time we have with our friends and family because you never know what tomorrow may bring.

Front Load Washer, How I Hate You

I have never heard any complaints before about front load washers, only the simple fact that they are easier on a persons back. In the time that we have had our front load washer we have had to have the boot replaced twice already, and now we have to call tomorrow to have it serviced yet again... The first time we had a to have the boot replaced and the filters cleaned out. The second time there was yet another hole in the boot and now the damn boot got twisted up with a pair of jeans somehow. I have no idea how in the heck it happened but it is a real damn pain in the rear. I have never wanted to get my hands on a regular top load washer so bad in my life.

Why I love cats

Cats are independent, take care of themselves mostly and know when something is up. But I also love cats because they want things their way when they feel like it. They don't care if you are busy, but when they want attention they will let you know.
Also, they look so darn cute when they are not causing havoc!

The Simple Things in Life

These days I believe that many people forget to stop and breathe. You've heard the old saying "Stop and smell the roses" but how many people actually do that? In my home we have eleven people. Yes, 11. Nine kids (my four his five) and two adults. It is always busy around here no matter what. In our household we seldom get time to ourselves so when he or I get a chance we try to take a breather. So sitting down to something as simple as a nice hot bowl of oatmeal or a hot cup of tea or coffee is a treat. Granted that moment may only last two or three minutes, but those are two or three minutes we have learned to treasure.

Children

Why is it that some children make things more difficult than they really are? My 8 year old daughter seems to try to make homework more difficult that it really is. She asks everyone for the answers and when we don't give them to her she tries asking if what she thinks the answer is is correct or not before she writes down the answer. And when we don't give in to that attempt to gain the answer without working, she argues, cries, "becomes distracted" or comes up with an ailment to avoid her homework. Don't get me wrong, I love my girl, but I wish she wasn't so stubborn when it comes to her homework.
